Stephen
Nerdy sort who loves messing with computers but is sometimes uncomfortable with the industry I find myself part of. Self hosting all the things is my coping strategy.
A whole-ass human, whilst also a work in progress ๐ณ๏ธโ๐

@sntx@bsd.cafe I've been using NixOS for 3-4 years now. Every little thing that isn't already packaged and/or without a module to configure it still feels like a fight ๐
But every time I migrate a server, an individual service, or setup a new desktop/laptop, I'm grateful that a git clone and nixos-rebuild and a quick rsync of my data gets it done.
And deploying a new service which does have a module being as simple as services.<thing>.enable = true with maybe a handful of other settings is pretty wonderful.
Trying out littleFedi by migrating myself to it wholesale and seeing how that goes. I wrote a little NixOS module to configure it, which was fun.
And with that I'm now back to properly self-hosting all my stuff from home ๐
